Wasn't That Bad (Spoilers)

Okay, so it's not a sci-fi classic. Understand that it has limitations. But if you go in expecting Star Wars or Alien, then of course you're going to be disappointed (BTW, if you look at Star Wars, A New Hope with fresh eyes...it's actually pretty corny, with bad dialogue).

If you go in with no expectations, it's not that bad a film.

Does it justify a sequel? Well, you know sequels only happen if the 1st one made money. So I would guess this is a hard sell. If anything, it will be a straight to DVD movie.

I think a lot of the hostility toward this movie is that (a) it did not have a big name star to carry it, and (b) it's kind of a bummer of an ending. People in this country HATE movies that don't end on a positive note. So the fact that humanity is all but done, and the people who are on these motherships are being experimented on, decapitated, and probably all other manner of suffering...well that's a downer. Even the hero gets decapitated and ends up being in the body of an alien.....not too upbeat.

Me, these kinds of endings just make me want to see more.
