Eric Balfour not in this?
Is it just me or does it annoy you when sequels don't follow through with the ending of the previous movie?

It seems like they are trying to treat this film as a stand alone instead of a direct sequel.

shareI wondered the same thing,that if he'd be making an appearance in the second film.It wouldn't be a stretch being that so far the sequels summary says that a father goes in to fight for his son against the aliens...It wouldn't be a stretch to find that the father gains help from "Eric",whose an alien though maintained as much of himself along with his humanity...
