Why do they always do this in horror movie!?!?!?

Spoilers:

The girl is setup by her guy-friend, under a tunnel in central park.
So, instead of hauling ass, she just stands there, and does nothing.
I'll never, ever understand this trope. Do you know how hard it is
to retrain someone who doesn't want it, esp a girl. I've had to help
hold my 5yr daughter down, at the ER for a shot she needed. It took
5 of us, and we couldn't keep her down. They had to give her meds by
mouth.
Those 2 woman would never be able to keep that girl from bucking and
jerking in real life, becuase in real life the girl would be going ape
sh!t to get away.

You think a girl is harder to restraIn than a man?

The only way this is true is due to the fact that any man, even farthers could get jail time by trying to restrain a female, because...

reply

hell yes! I've had female friends, granted they were maybe a bit on the athletic side,
that I've wrestled with and even once tied a friend with duck tape as a joke, she freaking
went crazy and ripped the tape apart.
Most women don't like to me restrained at all...

reply

Adrenaline can make a female bulldoze a full grown man.

reply

I'm not sure where you're located or how much experience you have with this issue but it is certainly NOT true that men, even fathers, could face jail time for restraining a female. In fact, it's MORE likely that a man will NOT face jail time and probably won't even be arrested for harming a female, regardless of their relationship to one another.

You don't have to believe me. Go volunteer at a DV Center or CASA in your area and see what happens in real life. It's sobering.

I escaped a man at 12. Your adrenaline goes crazy when you are scared or angry.

Part of it is we, the audience, go into the movie with the expectation that it's fictional, and, as such, we have to suspend belief about certain things. Otherwise, we would just be sitting watch paint dry for hours on end in every movie because REAL LIFE is not action-packed, crazy, loopy and speedy. It just doesn't work that way.

Beyond that, it is very hard for laypeople that don't work in emergency situations (ie. police officers, ER doctors and nurses, paramedics, etc.) to know how to respond in a very scary and overwhelming situation. This is why the "smash and grab" type criminals are so good at getting away. They have the element of surprise on their side and know the average target won't be able to react quickly enough to thwart being robbed or beaten or whatever. As humans, we just don't walk around in a constant state of "fight or flight." It would be exhausting as our adrenaline glands would always be firing. This is essentially what happens with people with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). They become so afraid of specific triggers that their adrenaline glands go haywire thereby increasing anxiety, stress and feelings of being unable to cope. It is very, very hard to live with this condition. So, assuming the targets do NOT have PTSD and are having a normal reaction to a crisis, it is more likely they would not know or be able to react quickly enough to escape the situation.

Um, uh, ok?

But since the girl had like 5 minutes to respond, she had plenty of time to do just about anything.
Maybe even construct a bomb...

Yeah, obviously I'm not talking about people with actual training,
which wouldn't even make sense to bring up seeing how we are not
dealing with an action movie. And no offense, but using all those
terms like you are some kind of expert in womens martial arts training
just makes you sound a bit like a know it all, esp sense most people
wouldn't be familiar with what you are talking about.

Now that that is out of the way, lets bot back to the topic I was addressing.
In REAL LIFE anybody that is going to be taken captive with deadly intent,
and they know it, is going to trying and ex cape. I have no idea why people
like yourself make it a point to talk about weight, age, and size of the victim.
The pumped up adrenaline that flows through the body unchecked can make a
the smallest person act like someone 3 times their size. Stories of a mom
picking up cars slightly to save their child after an accident are not far
fetched by any means. In REAL LIFE, that girl would not only try and run,
but if caught would scratch, bite, buck and flail, and just go friggin crazy
in general. No way those woman would be able to get her that easily, no friggin
way

What the previous poster said was perfectly understandable to me and I agree with them.

The girl could have done all that you said - you seem to be forgetting she was fighting demons! Not humans.

How did you see what the other poster said? They deleted their post months before....
