Not sure this is historically accurate with Joe Strummer wearing a Jacket with an upside down Pentagram hand scrawled on the back. Not sure that would be correct ....... Certainly don't remember any Satanic symbology in any of my memories of The Clash..... so who's idea was that ??

Most likely he saw a variant of the Red Army Faction (RAF) symbol, which is a five-pointed star with a machine gun inside. In the film Rude Boy you see Joe washing a red RAF shirt and explaining it all to the loser Ray Gange who, for some reason, they decided to make the central character. My guess is that Simonon sprayed a version of the RAF icon on their clothes in the early days.
