Whatever happened to Jonathan Whicher

Whatever happened to Jonathan Whicher ? When was he born, when did he die ? Anyone know of a bio of Johathan Whicher ? Was he married, did he have children ? I read that he became a private detective ? Was he successfull ? In short, whatever happened to Mr. Whicher ?
Has anyone thought of the JonBenet Ramsey Case ? Is there simularities to both cases ?
Murdered children are a horror to all who hear of it. Wheather its recent or it happened over hundred years ago or at any time. Nothing must stand in the way of justice. Politics, privilede, or even the preternatural must be swept aside to pursue this evil abhorrence.
Another child murder never to be forgotten especially the police who were involve, is of Adam Walsh. I believe a book has been written about the murder.

It ended very badly for Mr Whicher im sorry to say it but the case destroyed his career
he was born in 1814 and died in 1881 after the case he was forced to retire

A late reply, but actually Inspector Whicher didn't lose his job over the Kent case. I assume they wrote that in to facilitate Mr Whicher becoming a private detective. His career did suffer a knock back though, because sympathy was all with Constance until her later admission of guilt.

I would recommend reading the book which the film is based on if you want more info on him. It's by Kate Summerscale and has the exact same title as the film. Great book.
