For those who are religious

Where do you think is the soul of Constance Kent. She made a confession to a minister of God. She paid her dues to society by 20 years in jail. She became a nurse and service many during her remaining time. She lived to be a 100 years old. So you think she is in heaven ? Where does a penitent go ?

There is no god. The fact that she lived to be 100 is proof. Karma also seems questionable with her life as an example.

I'm not religious, but I used to be. If you believe in God, you must believe in redemption and the possibility of salvation; otherwise, what good would it do to believe in God? Therefore, her confession has saved her. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," right? Nobody DESERVES forgiveness; it's a gift.

It's my understanding that one of the worst sins, if not THE worst, is the pride shown in believing your sin to be unforgiveable--as if you had somehow bested God,, were mightier or more impressive than God. But an all-powerful God is clearly more powerful than any sin a mere human can commit. Thus God is capable of forgiving Constance. Thus she is in heaven (if you're a Protestant) or in Purgatory (if you're a Catholic).

What an interesting reply. I like what you said about nobody deserves forgiveness; it a gift. Exactly, because some of my friends have said what if Hitler said "Please God forgive me". You can see what the argument would be like if I said "I don't know, its up to God". It is a gift.
Why did you say she is in purgatory if you're a Catholic ?

I'm not quite sure how you mean your question.
Purgatory is a Catholic concept. It's not a Protestant belief. Protestants believe that if you repent, you're forgiven immediately; having repented, you may go directly to heaven. Catholics (I want to stress that I'm not speaking as an expert, just repeating what I've gleaned) believe that even forgiven souls are not pristine enough to enter heaven without first being cleansed, or purged. Thus we have Purgatory, which is a sort of way-station where the soul is prepared for heaven.

But maybe I should have said "If you're Catholic, you believe she's in Purgatory, whereas if you're Protestant you believe she's gone directly to heaven. (In other words, I don't know if it's my concept you're asking about, or just that my wording is insufficiently clear.)

I hope the bitch is burning in hell, killing a innocent child is an unforgivable and horrible crime

Hekitty21, no sin is unforgivable. But what she did was horrible. As a Christian,(a Roman Catholic), no sin is unforgivable. You have to ask God for forgiveness and do penence. Constance pay her dues to society by spending 20 years in jail. She also was penitent when she commited herself as a nurse for the rest of her life. But if it was up to me, I would hang her. But she was given a chance to whatever she wanted when she got out of jail. She dedicated the rest of her life to the service of others as a nurse. So I believe God may have forgiven her for what she did.

I am a Christian, and I believe she is in Heaven.

It is every bit as horrible for a stepmother to torture a small child, just because she is jealous of the child's mother..... and yet it happens all the time in this day and age.... let this story be a warning to all of us.
