For those who have read the book *SPOILERS*

I thought this was a great adaptation of the book and stayed true to the real events. I wish it was a bit longer so they could've fleshed out Whicher's character, and said more about the early Victorian detective force, particularly since Whicher and this case inspired (and was followed by) Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle as well. Anyone else have thoughts?

I agree. It works fine as a two-hour drama, but would have been great as a longer series. There are so many facets to this case which could be explored more fully.

As a Brighton resident, I'm particularly interested in Miss Kent's confession in a Brighton Anglican church. The existence of the confession box in the Church of England was scandalous and caused much local anger. When the Rev. Wagner refused to reveal what Constance had told him in the confessional, questions were asked in Parliament, and Wagner himself was shot at.

The other Brighton connection that interests me is that William Kent, Constance's younger brother and possible accomplice, became a resident biologist at the newly-opened Brighton Aquarium.

I do a guided walk about Brighton Women, and the case of Constance Kent is included. 
