Season 6 reaction (so far)

I'm a big fan of this show. I think its the best show on currently and has, from dialogue to cinematography to realism to humor, has paved the way for lots of successful entertainment and culture. But this season has been a little off. It feels like there's less creative energy here and that they are racing to tie up things and it seems to be heading in a predictable direction.

Hannah wanting to become a mom seems very unrealistic considering her obsession with career and independence and the assumption that abortion wouldn't offend her. Even if she ends up with Adam, I hope she doesn't become a mother. Jessa's evolution has also been weird. Why don't more characters find Hannah's reaction to Jessa and Adam as childish. Almost no one liked Hannah and Adam together and Jessa didn't steal him from Hannah. To see their Adam and Jessa break up because of Hannah is expected but are they really evil villains? And if so, Hannah would be hypocritical to take Adam back after punishing and demonizing them so hard.

I'm glad that this season has given Elijah some moments to grow and find strength. Shosh is an after thought and that pisses me off. Marnie's storyline is very boring now but it may lead to a great moment where she breaks from her mother's negative influence. The only character I empathize with at this point is Ray, who has grown consistently with the show. But even he is a bit poorly written now as you would expect him to be the last person to put up with Marnie's junk.

I love the show and this season has had some ingenious bits and emotional momentum with the pregnancy angle, but this is a sloppy and inconsistent season. I don't know if its my least favorite. I hope the final 3 episodes lift it much higher. I'm glad the show is ending because they seem tired, but I hope it returns with a movie or another show called "Women" : )
