Jessa's marriage?

Why would Jessa Marry that man, Thomas-John. Jessa and Thomas-John were mismatched from the start!! Did Jessa marry Thomas-John for the money or did she genuine love him. What do you think? I feel that Jessa only loves Jessa.

The last we see Jessa before her surprise wedding was talking to the mom of the children she babysat. She had wanted Jessa to come back but Jessa declined and they had a real serious conversation about Jessa, her future and why she keeps running away from the person shes to become. She says "I bet you get into these dramas all the time, like with Jeff and me, where you cause all this trouble and you have no idea why, in my opinion youre doing it to distract yourself from becoming who youre meant to be." Then continues on to describe who that Jessa is "She may not be what you pictured when you were 16.Her job might not be cool. Her hair might not be flowing like a mermaid. And she might be really serious about something.Or someone. And she might be a lot happier than you are right now."

We know that it wasnt for money because we see her visibly upset in the bathtub with Hannah after her huge fight with Thomas John. I feel like Jessa just succumbed to the idea that she had to get serious and settle down because she really wasnt happy. Im hoping that becoming a therapist is the thing that finally brings her real joy in her life 😊

Exactly. She's inherently miserable. She's always looking to fill a void in impulsive ways.

She settled on 10K after they split. She was married to him for 8 seconds, but She could have asked for more.

She is 100% the type of girl who would say "Pfft! Oh Yea, i got married once". She's proud to add That to the ever growing list of crazy *beep* that She's done. She was sad though because it was another thing that She tried that didn't work.

precisely. I feel like this is why she gets along so well with Hannah. Hannah is always willing to try new things "for the story"...and as we know Jessa is going to be "fat like Nico with experiences by the time shes 30"....they both strive for filling their lives with adventure. And they both have this selfish part that comes out once in a while...with Jessa it drives her to abandon her friends and never fully commit to things and with Hannah it prevents her from being anything other than self-involved. To me, Jessa and Hannah are the two that seem like they would be really good friends irl. Marnie is like the middle school friend that just grows out of her friends to pursue a Stepford life and well Shoshanna...Im still trying to figure out how any of them can stand to hang out with her. I can see why they decided to tie her in as being related to Jessa,,,cant imagine anyone going out of their way to nurture a friendship with such an annoying and cartoonish kook like her.
