Great news: Lesser Prairie Chicken no longer an endangered species!

Remember this guy? We haven't seen his face in the news lately. But this time he's not causing a stir because he's preventing drilling. Instead, this time it's because the U.S. government announced it was formally removing the lesser prairie chicken from a federal protection list under the Endangered Species Act.

Five states figured out a way to protect the bird without listing him as an endangered species, which mean drilling companies wouldn't be restricted from operations where it lives.
