Intro scene really set the tone for this game

Without spoiling anything, the intro that was done for this game really set the tone for it.

"Metroid: Other M" is the best game (PERIOD)!

It is a great intro, although I am still puzzled about what we see in it. [SPOILERS AHEAD!]
The battle between Mother Brain, Samus and the baby Metroid is pretty obvious.
But the intro starts with pieces of a space structure getting obliterated by meteorites. Were those the remains of Ceres Station, the spacelab where Samus left the baby during the intro of Super Metroid, which got subsequently destroyed by Ridley? Or is it a flash-forward, showing the remains of the Bottle Ship getting smashed?
And the subsequent scene: young Samus in some sort of womb. Is that a flashback to before her birth? It's weird because she looks more like a small child than a fetus. I thought, maybe it is a memory of when the Chozo took her to Zebes, and infused her with Chozo blood so she could survive the harsh environment on Zebes.

Other thoughts?

Those are good questions. I am guessing that it is open for interpretation.

But I would prefer that it was a flash-forward to when the Bottle ship is destroyed. She may be having visions of herself as a helpless baby/fetus to relate to her flashbacks about the Baby Metroid before it was destroyed

I remember when John Woo was going to make the Metroid movie and it got cancelled. I am wishing that they followed through on that. I think that someone other than John Woo should have directed it, but a live-action Metroid movie could be awesome.
