I miss the Flood

The Flood were such cool enemies. Sure, they were basically alien zombies, but they really did mix up the gameplay a bit. In Halo:CE when they first arrived, they really changed up things. You now faced a threat that was different than the ones you had been facing before. Most of the attacks against you were melee attacks (though not all obviously) and you'd be swarmed by them.

I think the Flood made for a cool addition to the gameplay so you weren't going through the same enemies for every level. Now that they're not in Reach, it makes for a less satisfying experience, in my opinion.

I know that it wouldn't make any sense for them to appear in the campaign. But I was thinking, what if they added them to a Firefight mode? Most people I ask this too have said it wouldn't make sense because this is Reach, before the Flood. But why do the multiplayer scenarios have to all take place in the Reach continuity too? Most of the multiplayer levels take place in locations that appeared in the game (with the exception of Forge World). What happend to all the made up levels from the previous games that didn't appear in the campaign?

When they released the Defiant Map Pack I thought with the inclusion of new levels designed by 343 my idea might actually be coming true. There's a Firefight map called Unearthed so I thought maybe it would be about the Flood. But of course it wasn't the case.

Does anyone else miss fighting the Flood? I seriously want to fight them again in some form. They've been absent from the past 2 games now, and I think they could easily do a Firefight type expansion that includes the Flood. It would be kick ass.

That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die.

I thought at least Infected mode in Multiplayer should have turned you into a flood model. Ah the missed opportunities.

I hate the Flood so much.

I like the *concept* of the Flood, but Stage VIII in Halo 3 was so difficult and confusing that it damn near turned me away from the game forever. I only plowed through it anyway because I was so near the end. God, but I hated every minute of it, though. Level IX was such a cake walk by comparison that it was somewhat shocking.

What's funny is, I'm kind a newbie to the world of Xbox and Halo, so I played Halo 1 (the XBLA download) *after* Halo 3, and when the Flood appeared in the first game, I was like, "Oh come ON, not THESE @$$holes again!!" Very unpleasantly surprised.

All that being said, I'll still take the Flood over a pair of Jackals anyday. I hate those guys more than anything in these games. Through Halo 1, 3, ODST, and now Reach, I still haven't found a truly effective way of taking those suckers down.

Are you serious? A well-placed headshot does the trick.

Looks like it's finally happening. Guess I wasn't the only one that thought this was a good idea. http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Halo-4-Gold-Flood-Mode-Screenshots-Released-47805.html
