Irritating Exposition!
I've read a lot of posts on this board that complain about this show's childishness, silliness and how it shouldn't "break the fourth wall", but I don't think I've seen anyone nail the main problem with it, which is it's incessant, unnecessary and irritating use of exposition.

Obviously, the writers are targeting children, but I think that even children will feel patronised by the way this show has been dumbed-down. I can't think of a single cut-away that explained something that the viewer had not already seen, didn't already know, would not have learned by the end of the show, or wasn't plainly obvious. They also hamper the flow of the action, and storytelling in general.
Exposition should be used sparingly, and is a good indicator of the skill of the writer. The following is article, written in 2007, explains the pitfalls of exposition. Ultimate Spider-man has fallen for pretty much all of them.

That said, the graphics are pleasing and, personally, I prefer them to Spectacular Spiderman. If the writers of this show could be replaced with the Spectacular writing team, and the cut-aways were reduced to a minimum, then I think this show would be good. As it is, I'd prefer it to be cancelled, so as not to spoil the Spidey legacy.
