Y'all realize it's a kids show right?

This isn't a Hollywood blockbuster. It's a Disney XD show, meaning for little kids. Of course it's going to be goofier and he's going to break the fourth wall a lot. I'm 23 and love the show because I see it for that. Y'all need to quit complaining about it not being like the comics or movies. It's a goofy show and deserves to stick around.

Y'all realize 'Y'all" is a sign of ignorance and is considered a hillbillyism.

I'm thirty-two and I have a friend who is an anime voice actor so I appreciate the technical qualities of well done animation. And even "kids shows" usually have some level of quality, continuity, and even complexity. Ever see Disney's Gargoyles? That thing was more complicated than Melroe's Place with the character interactions and interpersonal relationships. It even heavily hinted that one of the leads was homosexual (eventually revealed in the official comic books).

Just because something is for children does not mean it should be substandard or condescending to the children. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes didn't do this.

it does feel dumbed-down, but it's you know, fer kids! I was hoping this would be more adult-themed or even have Miles Morales, but heh. I just quickly identified that i was not among the targeted demographic & moved on to watch something else.

Bullsht.

It's the closest American English has to a plural for "you", unless you care to use the archaic "ye" which most people aren't even going to be able to "hear" or understand even if they could "hear" it.

As for its being a hillbillyism, I've used it all my life, even though I've lived in California since I was 5, and no one minds. They don't even raise an eyebrow when I use it.

And I use it because it reduces the opportunities for misunderstandings.

Now, I anticipate that someone like you, being so fond of looking down your nose at others, will lead off with a personal slander concerning my "ignernce". But don't bother, I scored 800 on the SAT English portion, and I'm an editor and English teacher.

I must become someone else. I must become something else.

That 90s cartoon on Fox sucked.

The 1967 series was good, as was 'Amazing Friends'. The 2002 series on MTV was good, and so was Spectacular Spider-Man.

the 90's Spider-Man and Ultimate are the two worst. Oh, and Spider-Man Unlimited. That was garbage too.

reply

The 1990s one was shackled by heavy censorship but it won an Emmy AND was the only Spider-man animated series to follow story arcs directly out of the comics and give a comic book feel to the style of story telling which allowed it to run for five full seasons. None of the others survived so long. It also shared the universe of the cult classic 90s X-men so before climbing on a hate band wagon because of early nineties CG or some recycled animation sequences make sure to know what it is you're hating.

Oh, I know exactly what I'm hating. Anyone climbing on a band wagon is climbing on the band wagon that I started back in the 90s. I'm almost 40. I remember when the $h!tty Fox Spider-Man and equally $h!tty Fox X-Men series first aired. (There were also in-continuity Hulk, Fantastic Four, and Iron Man series at that time, too. They were all crap). I hated them from day one. Those shows were airing around the same time that Fox was airing the amazing 'Batman: The Animated Series'. Batman displayed everything an animated series could aspire to be with beautiful animation and smart, well written scripts. All the while the same network was crapping out poorly animated dreck like X-Men and Spider-Man.

In the years that followed, far superior animated shows like X-Men: Evolution and Spectacular Spider-Man would eventually emerge. In those shows one can clearly see the influence of Batman (and Superman, Batman Beyond, and Justice League Unlimited).

Your opinions are trash. 90s Spider-Man was dope and it is well known that the X-Men series was and still is one of the best cartoons of all time.

Millennial = Homo Sapiens born 1990 or after; Losers who think they know everything but don't

reply

So was the animated batman series, and that's one the best cartoons ever.

The point is... Adults who take kiddie shows seriously have mental issues.

Nope. Those that judge others over the Internet tend to have inadequacy issues (revel in the irony of someone on the Internet saying that someone else, it could be perceived as a confession of self-fault).

Adults who feel that kids shows such as this should be handled with integrity and respect to the young viewer are adults who remember growing up with the likes of Disney's Gargoyles and remember quality. Being a child does not mean having to settle for second rate if that was true there would never be any classic young adult novels, never be any timeless shows that parents enjoy with their children, no films like Disney's Frozen.

Those that dismiss something of poor quality simply because it is for children are usually those that don't care about children. Consider this.

I proved your case by feeling that children deserve quality even if they are children? That proves your opinion that adults complaining about this have something wrong with them?

If feeling children deserve better means there is something wrong with me I would rather have something wrong with me than suit your definition of right.

Why? Why would you ask someone to worry about something more serious? Why? That's cruel. I'd rather worry about trivial things, it's a lot more bearable than the serious worries of the world.

reply

Worry about something important other than fictional trivial shows like this.

Do you have any clue on what kind of website you're residing on?

reply

That's exactly what's wrong with it. It's a show that's pandering to one specific demographic, while leaving everyone else out to dry.

reply

I can't stand the excuse of ''It's a kids show so it's okay to be crap''

Anyone who says that don't respect kids intelligence very well

Exactly. People complained about the censorship of the 1990s cartoon which actually had the on-going plots of the comics. Think of how this cartoon will be remembered in twenty years. It already feels pretty dated.

reply

Very much agreed. Just because something is geared towards a certain audience doesn't mean they don't need to put any quality or effort into anything. It doesn't matter who it's aimed at.

I mean the Disney and Pixar movies have a number of both kid and adult fans. And even Spongebob Squarepants has been a hit with it's intended audience and older people. Well at least the earlier seasons.

Yeah....that doesn't hold water.

Kids show or not, it's garbage.

Spider-Man & his Amazing Friends was also a kids show, and it was so much better than this.

reply

Stop with this garbage about how "kids deserve smarter cartoons!'

You guys just want cartoon that cater to you instead of kids.

^This. Yes.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

Well I'm 51 and this was a lot better than the Superfriends which was far worse.

reply

You're the problem.

Accepting any crap "for what it is".

Plenty of kid shows like Mummies Alive and Sonic SATAM were awesome and didn't insult a child's intelligence.
