off the mark (spoilers)
Sorry to be a Grinch, but I didn't think the actors in this movie were funny-they don't have comic ability and, in my opinion, were straining to be funny.
And what's with the two white-haired older men being married to much younger-looking women? They look more like the grandfathers of the children, rather than their fathers. I know it could happen, but it stood out too much and wasn't part of the plot.
The photography and sets looked low-budget. The movie seemed like a film set in America made in a foreign country --off the mark much of the time. I didn't think America was that hard to replicate, but it looked as if the moviemakers have never been over the border. The houses and clothing just don't look like what you'd see in California--not to mention the tell-tale Canadian accents much of the time. The blond wife's dowdy wardrobe was especially bad--it looked as if someone went to a thrift store and said, "Here, wear this." And the parlor game with a man being "Elfy"--that just doesn't sound typically American.
Please, Hallmark, if you're going to continue making movie after movie in Canada, but pretending they're in America, try to get the details right! People notice.
