Final challange and judging

I think it was lame that they got two helpers in the final challange to show their chef skills, if they are allowed to do this though, then johnny cant criticize sally for using orlando on the showpiece. Im sure Chris helpers did work on his other deserts so he could "perfect" his showpiece that fell apart.

When they were comparing "apples" it sounded like sally would be the clear winner, but johnny kept bringing up that sally had help with her showpiece. His kid beeing in the hospital also helped him winning I bet.

I was thinking the same thing about all of that. When they made it to the finale last week, I thought to myself, Chris or Sally are going to win because Sally's the only woman or Chris has a sick baby. Matthew doesn't have enough drama going on. Lol

As far as the choosing their help, I can see how they would think Chris did better because he worked harder, but why allow any of them to choose who they worked with if they know one helper chef would gice one finalist an edge that they think would be unfair? That kind of makes it unfair to any chef that would choose the best helper. It's not Sally's fault the they told her to go first and then ave her the first choice for the second chef. Like Matt said, he would've doen the same thing. Also one of the judges said that Sally was smart in choosing the best helper that could do what she wasn't good at.

If they wanted the chefs to have an equal chance at the best and worst, the chefs should have pulled knives for the numbers of the two chefs they'd be stuck with. If it was that important to have the chefs do the most work, then they could have made a rule that the helpers could only do prep work and helping in put the disply on the table, but all the display had to be designed AND assembled by the finalists alone.

Agreed. When you compare everything the other judges said, Sally should have won. I think they only gave it to Chris because of the sob story.

Matthew's bonbons were winning with the judges.

The show-piece was Sally's. Orlando made it but they showed it was her design and she was directing him. If he had made the bread, would it even have been an issue?

His plated dessert was only deemed amazing by Johnny but the other judges were not impressed (not to mention it had nothing to do with the challenge since he merely made a cake he'd done before in competition and he tied up his wife into it just for show, and the judges noted that) and Sally's was a winner, if not for the minor detail of the sealing of the spheres.

Johnny was even the one who told Chris that his bread was playing it safe and then surprise, he's the winner. Meh.
