Spooky Fun!!

My husband and I were fortunate to have just attended the screening of Munger Road. Nick Smith addressed the audience ahead of time and explained that this movie was truly done in a family style with his mother as the caterer for their crew.

I was very impressed by the first time effort by Nick and Company. It was scary without being gross. It was creepy without being over the top. Lots of suspense. Many places where your imagination can fill in the blanks. A few places where I wanted to yell at one of the characters, "no don't!".

The had some various parts that brought to mind "Halloween", "JAWS" and even a touch of "Scream". It also had a little bit of a "Hitchcock" feel to it. More of an old fashioned scary movie. You weren't bombarded with gratuitous swearing or slasher film nudity. This film again proves that sometimes less is more and what you don't see is scarier than what you do see. The audience was full of ages ranging from young teens to I believe some eighty year olds and everyone was clapping at the end.

I love the fact that they took an actual urban legend and worked it into this story. As a teenager we had a local urban legend about a supposedly haunted area too and it brought back memories of late night drives where we looked for something "scary" to happen.

I don't want to reveal too much of the plot because I believe that the ending really helps add to the film and giving it away would be unfair, but needless to say I am hopiong for a part two.

I hope this film is successful because its just good old fashioned film making which hopefully will never and should never die off.

I'm so glad this you posted that this is going to be a quality film. In addition to being a horror film buff I grew up in the neighboring town to St. Charles where this was filmed in. Before I departed for college I attended Scarecrow Fest every year and have "done" Munger Road; my friends and I did indeed drive out there one night, put baby powder on the hood, trunk, and bumpers, turned off the lights, locked the doors and drove. When we got out there were two prefect child sized handprints on the trunk. It was an experience I'll never forget, but I'm glad they're not just relying on the haunting to make the story.

That is a GREAT story! Yes, I think that there will be a part two and that it could go a lot of different directions which makes it all the better.

for 200k he did a great job actually. It felt like there could have been alot of editing so a part 2 wasn't needed. Great score and atmosphere though.

I've seen worse films that cost ALOT more.

I actually liked this one quite a bit as well, thought it was far from perfect. Thanks to the end, it was more an interesting setup than a complete story, but still, good spooky atmosphere, excellent music, a good blend of mundane horror and possible ghostly activity. I hope they're able to make a sequel.

Honestly the end was a letdown. It absolutely was. No doubt.

But it totally gave off Halloween vibes. All that was missing was some scary shot of the psycho killer. I was having a heck of a good time. I knew as the minutes were going down there wasn't much time left. I was hoping for a shot of our monster but it wasn't there. Still it was fun.
