Was Heleno really bilingual?

This question is for whoever is familiar with this man, most likely a native Brazilian. He is shown speaking fluent Spanish to his mistress in the film and a little to the Boca Junior's head coach. I'm just curious.

I know in real life, Rodrigo Santoro is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English, but was Heleno fluent as well?
