Don't want to be rude...

because I haven't seen this movie yet just the trailer but Talladega Nights looks a lot better than this. Any opinions, comments?

Well, T N was a comedy, this is a drama based on true events about real racers. Completely different type of movie.

This comes across like a TV-Movie/Soap Opera. I was expecting some great race footage (like in "Rush,"), but the only race footage is stock footage (and not a lot of that). I feel I wasted my money getting the blu-ray of this, the dvd would have been sufficient.

This is an okay film. It's the kind of thing you'd see on the Movie of the Week in the 70s or 80s.

A solid film, but not blockbuster material.

It's a bio-pic, it's not supposed to be about spectacular races and crashes. It's about the relationship between two pioneers of the NHRA.

They're both racing films, granted. But I saw Talladega Nights as a parody to Days of Thunder, where as this was more the drag racing equivalent of Ron Howard's Rush.

I can't really give you an opinion on which is best, that's purely speculative and will always sway towards personal taste. But for what it counts, I personally prefer a story based on real people. They don't always get the 'Hollywood' ending of pure fiction and with poetic license aside, as a British drag racing fan...it's a very small sport over here...Snake & Mongoose gave me a film that I never thought I'd ever see about two legendary names of a hugely unappreciated form of motorsport. I liked it for that.

It wasn't massively accurate, there was a massive amount of back story to squeeze into 90 or so minutes, neither of them were household names anywhere outside of the U.S, the films budget was small and none of the leads are what you would even consider a 'B' list actor on an international level.

But do you know what, I loved it! It was honest, it knew that it had to fiddle the truth to get enough of the real story in to compress it into 90 minutes and...as any petrol head will tell you... it featured real machinery and real footage (spliced in with edited FX of course), which in this kind of film just matters.
