Enough already with the found footage

3 young people go missing in the woods, warned to stay away by locals... blah blah blah. This was done to better effect, as mentioned before, in Blair Witch. This movie could have avoided the cliche somewhat by actually shooting a movie instead of recreating someone else's movie. And I still have no idea what was up with Leo?! I hope that this overload of FF ends soon and moviemakers with low budgets start getting creative again.

It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!

As a fan of found footage, mockumentary, point of view, horror 'reality' etc I have to disagree. I admit that they do get a bit samey, and I do roll my eyes now every time we have a close up of a face hiding under furniture before something unseen drags them away from camera, but if they do something slightly different, or rearrange stuff or even give me characters I can emotionally connect to I find them easy to watch and get into.

Keep making them I say. I have the same feelings as your original post about slasher movies but I know a lot of people like them, so they keep getting made for that niche audience.

I am in the found footage niche. I'm really not being mean when I say this, just pointing out that if I think a movie will not fit into my current mood or interest, I won't watch it. Horror movies make that a bit difficult, as trailers can sometimes make a movie look good when it isn't. But a found footage movie is marketed as a found footage movie, you can't mistake what you're heading into. If you don't watch it, it will just simply not exist for you.

Can I just ask, if you don't like them why do you view?

In the vain hope that one won't regurgitate Blair Witch and be original. Rec was good. And I love horror - but about 70% of horror movies seem to be FF now! Can't get my fix any more.

I love found footage but this movie is lame.
