God made me this way

Twice in the movie was Tim's homosexuality shown as unacceptable. Once by one of the girls around his own age (she said she would quote bible verses if he wanted) and the other time by Tim's younger brother who showed real disgust.

But God created Tim that way. A concept that was never discussed. I really would have liked to see how it would have turned out if Tim has said "God made me this way".

The way I see it is that was implied. The fact that Tim was comfortable with his sexuality while still believing in God tells me that he's come to that realization already. I'm glad that wasn't said in the movie. Then it would have felt like it was being fed to me.

That's what I like about this movie so much; the fact that many of the themes and messages were portrayed by the characters as opposed to someone preaching about it and bashing us over the head with these things. There wasn't a speech about how being gay was against God, just the 2 disapproving comments from the friend and the brother. That's awesome! That's real.

Tim didn't need to say to people that God made him gay. When the youth pastor took the group outside to talk about how nature was perfect because it was from the mind of God, Tim asked if people weren't also nature. It seemed he just wanted to know that God didn't make a mistake with him and that because he was a part of nature, he was made just as God intended. After that scene, Tim didn't seem to have any doubts that he was OK and didn't need other people to validate him by telling them that "God made me this way."

This was a great film!
