What job does Nina Sosyana have?

Why does she keep harping on the money issue?

I'm also confused about other events in the show like what level of education the pupils are?

Also what is a clerk's job?

Kate (Nina's character in the show) is a barrister specialized in prosecution. In England, Crown Prosecution Service is supposed to be responsible for prosecution (like DA in US), but they don't have enough people and they often instruct outside prosecutors to do the job. And Kate is one of the lawyers depends on CPS for living.

According to the show, Billy does not want to be on big solicitor's bad side and decrease higher end lawyer's opportunities of getting cases, hence he doesn't press these solicitors to pay lower end lawyers like Kate right away. They may even owe her around ten to twenty thousand pounds over years, naturally she won't be happy about it at all.

Pupil's level of education should be law major graduate if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you. That really helps. Can you tell me what Billy's job is? I get he's a boss of sorts but he can be replaced by a vote of the board. He also assigns cases. And he manages the money. But he doesn't appear to practice law.

Billy's job seems to be the procurer for the professionals in his chambers. I picked up on the clerk was second generation in his family, and by his accent, from a working class background. The solicitors and barristers seem to be Oxbridge or red brick educated, but hold professional law degrees while Billy and the other clerks don't seem to have their educational degree level --is this comparable to a para professional in the US?
