Anyone know when this movie will be coming out? I know it's down for a 2012 release but with the movie already wrapped and people saying the script is really good surely Dreamworks would bring it forward in time for award season.
Cant wait to see some stills.
Well Mr. Bob Orci one of the producers last week said ... "not release date yet"... but nemkes-1 and I do not know who he is... lol ... said here that perhaps the film opens in 2011 ... so ... we'll see... +LOL

I think it depends on how good this movie actually is. Surely Dreamworks will bring back the release date to late 2011 if WTP stands a chance of winning any awards. Based on the positive comments we've heard about the script and how it was on the famous Black List - and considering the high-profile cast - it'd be safe to say that we'll hear a 2011 release date soon.

It's been too quiet on this board for quite a while. Still no photos/trailers or no announcements for any release date. Thought we might maybe see this film out before the end of the year but dont think we will be seeing this now until 2012.

Agree, unless they give it a limited release in NYC/LA at the end of the year to qualify for Academy Award consideration, it will most likely see a late winter / early spring 2012 release. All of the fall film festival schedules are set so I don't it making those rounds at this late date. It seems that even with reports of recent additional shooting, the film did not meet studio expectations and may need more work before it is released. Curious indeed.

shareThere is nothing wrong with Chris Pine's "attempt at drama". He is very capable. If this movie does go straight to DVD, it will be because of the story, which the studio may think will not have enough box office appeal. The movie is hardly superhero stuff, thank God! Hopefully, it will get a cinematic release date soon.

I really dont see this film going straight to DVD. Not with Dreamworks as the distribution company who have just had great success with The Help. I think it will probably be released in the spring now.

shareI'm not ready to write this film off just because the studio is holding it until next year. And I've seen nothing yet that would make me believe they are going to send it direct to DVD or Netflix. I'm still optimistic at this point.

shareI am more than confident that this film will be released in theatre's. Michelle is also not headlining this film it is Chris Pine who is playing the lead with Michelle supporting. ICNBYW and PE both had distribution problems with neither able to get a company behind them like Dreamworks. Im sure we will hear of a release date in the near future.
shareWTP could be a better candidate for a Spring or Mother's Day release. Even though it apparently wasn't strong enough for a year end release to qualify for awards season, that doesn't necessarily mean the studio won't find a successful platform to launch it next year. I remain optimistic.

I think that is the accurate reason. And 'Dreamworks' has 'War Horse' for this year's Oscar and 'Welcoem To The People" will be next year contender or will have a release at the end of this year and expand in January
