Overall, I liked the movie. Thought it was emotional and had good moments.
I actually found myself feeling sorry for Michelle Pheifer and Sam though..I think even though the father wanted to take care of his daughter and grandson, he should have left more to his family that he had "chosen". Did Sam receive any money from the estate?

no, sam got the record collection and the record player, presumably the patchouli oil and the medical marijuana too - and that's it.

jerry didn't think sam needed the money as much as frankie - he thought what sam needed WAS frankie. plus the money was also a payoff for the totally absent years and to specifically help his grandson. sam doesn't have kids.
