Is is people like us, with like meaning enjoy, or like meaning similar to?

Someone said that it means those who didn't have an ideal childhood or parents are people like us. It made more sense to me when he said that. At first I thought it was just saying that they are ordinary people.

Families are made up in all different ways so that's what i believe the title means, it was originally titled "welcome to people "
