Really Not As Bad As Everyone Says...

Ok so I just finished this movie and I didn't think it was as terrible as most of the reviewers on here. It definitely wasn't great but there are a few things I can appreciate about it, the first of which is the fact it was made under such hasty circumstances. Dimension realized they could lose the rights to the Hellraiser franchise if they did not produce and release another movie in a specific length of time. From what I've read, this film was quickly written, had a small budget, and was filmed in about 2 weeks time. Taking all that into account, I thought the result was respectable. Another thing I appreciate was the actual story itself. Again although not great, the writers at least brought the series back to what it was originally about unlike the previous four sequels (Inferno, Hellseeker, Deader, and Hellworld) which were all created from current scripts owned by Dimension. They took these scripts and re-wrote them to include Pinhead and other Cenobites in order to make them work as Hellraiser sequels. So I can appreciate the fact that at least they took a more original approach by actually writing a movie about Hellraiser, not giving it the same treatment as the last four sequels. The acting was not that great, but I have seen so many direct-to-DVD horror movies that it doesn't even phase me anymore. For a limited budget, the effects weren't completely awful either and I thought there was a decent enough twist near the end of the movie. I actually think if this film was given time to flesh out a better, more complete script as well as a larger budget and more shooting time, it would have turned out to be a worthy Hellraiser sequel. So I applaud all involved for creating this film on such limited circumstances. If you are a fan of the Hellraiser movies, watch it knowing why/how it was created and that it will not be that great; that's what I did and I enjoyed it a lot better than I think I would have had I not known anything about it prior.

I found it about as decent as a lot of the other HELLRAISER films.

What I liked about this film was that it felt a lot more like the original two films than any of the other sequels. It wasn't a film that had got nothing to do with Hellraiser, that just had a couple of random Pinhead cameos.

Sadly, it gave itself too many mountains to climb. Low budget, hurried production, replacing an iconic lead. It was never going to be a great film.

Watchable though.

I enjoyed it.

I'm a huge Hellraiser fan, and this movie made Hellraiser: Hellworld look like a masterpiece in comparison. This was pure garbage.

You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance.

I didn't think it was that bad. Better than a couple of the other sequels. I have a feeling that if Doug Bradley played Pinhead in the movie it would've gotten a much better reaction.

So you lowered your expectations below trashlike filmmaking and that way you were able to overrate the movie, good for you, but I aint doing that. If you think this is superior to any of the sequels even deader or hellworld your opinion stops being relevant automatically, you get banned from the world.
