Question about the last scenes

Who was the family John parked across from and watched a few moments?

reply

I'm not positive, but it was a bit of closure in that he'd sold his beach house.

reply

Ah! Ok I thought it may have been his wife and baby, not dead but with another man. I didn't realize it was his beach house. Thanks!

reply

The baby was too small to be his.
But I was confused about that scene too because he said that memories arent always what there were. Weird comment for that scene.

Lincoln Lee: I lost a partner.
Peter Bishop: I lost a universe!

reply

It was the art teacher and his family. John must have sold it to them.

reply

It wasn't the art teacher and his family. It wasn't his baby and dead wife with another man. It was a completely different unrelated-to-anything-else-in-the-movie family that bought the beach house that he was so reluctant to sell.

reply

I agree... The truth was his wife and baby was gone and not comming back. He had some issues with letting go and did frequently revisit them in memories. Causing him to keep a house he cant live in and cant afford to keep. The truth liberating him on both Inner and external issues in the end, that had kept him locked up
Then starting over, dating judith.

The man at the end is not the art teacher. It's just some random guy. The woman in that scene is Frida Palsson, who plays Mark Strong's wife in the movie. I think it signifies to John that he should move on and to content in that his now ex-wife had moved on. It might actually be the case that she didn't die, that she just dumped him. Maybe he wanted a child and she didn't?

reply

the art teacher was in jail for life. Not him.
