great until the horrible plot hole ridden ending

like I said - great acting, good score, and even the story/concept was intriguing.

Yet - there are too many plot holes.

When the nurse was pushed, why did he not investigate her memories to see what happened or if in fact she was sleeping with the step father? A memory detective would do his job properly, especially with a willing subject (not everyone would agree to a memory retrieval).

He learned that someone else poisoned the girls (according to Anna), why did he not investigate this Mousey character (especially when told that she did not exist - he didn't further investigate even after he got her picture)???

The pictures on his laptop - who took them and was he locked away? Was it the arts teacher? (this is not a plot hole, if indeed the arts teacher was the culprit).

The ending tops it all off - and there are too many plot holes there to mention them all.

Still - curiously enough, I'd still say that this film with all of its numerous and numerous plot holes is better than your average new AAA movie simply because it ventures to explore some sort of new territory in terms of plot (I did not see mindscape - perhaps this is a copy and I'm wrong?). Furthermore, the perpetual mystery is very slowly revealed - and as more questions pop up during the movie, it really does keep your interest until the very end, so kudos to that.

That ending was very weak, the only interesting part was that there was another Memory detective working on him in prison.
