Not Bad

This film has a pretty weak script and I've never been much of a Jaime Kennedy fan (understatement). However, most of the supporting players are pretty high quality and Adam Copeland was damned good. I really didn't expect much from the guy but he took a pretty cliche', boring, stock character on the page and made him likeable pretty much just with his personality. The guy's got a little star quality. With a co8ple of decent scripts and a little more experience/training he could surpass Dwayne Johnson as the biggest wrestling-actor crossover star to date.

He did do a good job bringing the character to life, but on reflection it could be argued the character was an extension of his own personality, as a consequence there wasn't much acting required. Let's see if he is convincing as a psychopathic killer - or, better yet, a role where he is required to play a socially awkward character - pretty much the opposite of who he seems to be in real life.

I think you may be right. I'm not familiar with wrestlers so, I don't know the guy outside of this movie. That said, likeability and charisma are a large part of what makes someone a star. Whether he can act or just gets by on his personality doesn't enter into it too much as far as his success in film to me. I have no idea if he's going to be appearing in a lot of off Broadway productions of Eugene O'Neill plays but I do think he has whatever the 'it' is that makes people stars. He also seems to have some comic timing which is something that cannot be taught.

It's true comic timing can't be taught. However, i didn't see much comic timing from him in this movie- although it might have helped if he had a decent script to work with. In mainstream films likability and charisma do go a long way, the rock is a prime example of this, but if Adam's ambition is to be seen as a good actor, then he needs to be able to play a vast array of characters(in other words have range) This is why the rock, as charismatic as he is, is unlikely to win an Oscar(a stated goal of his) Adam is a better actor than Cena, Triple H and Orton, but in all honesty that's not much of an achievement.
Although you might counter the Rock proves that you don't necessarily need to be a talented actor to be a movie "star", which is true, i just don't see Edge making it as the next big movie star either.
