Why is Ewan McGregor in this?

I mean Velvet Goldmine is more a play on Bowie than Iggy. Or any of the other Stooges for that matter.

Guess they needed to pull an "Ewan McGregor" to boost the ratings for anybody born after 1995, much the same way they injected him into Fargo and Miles Ahead for a ratings boost that wasn't necessary. The guy is overexposed enough as it is.
