Weak

The metaphor in this movie is so obvious and on the nose that it needn't be employed at all.

For vampires, the need for blood is comparable to a junky's need for a fix. Got it.

If this movie had just been about wealthy junkies who aren't vampires, the story wouldn't need to be changed almost at all. Even at the ending, instead of attacking the couple for blood they could have been shown to rob/kill them for money/drugs, driven by their craving.

So all we really get is a rather slow, dull tale of a couple of largely directionless addicts who are fated lovers, compared to the 'spooky' particles referenced at the ending.

Then there's a lot of conspiracy nonsense for people who don't bother to know what they're talking about, like the claims about Tesla's ideas and the theory that Shakespeare didn't write his works - yawn.

There's about half an hour of story here, plus a bit of a crammed-in subplot about the much anticipated visit from Eve's sister that amounts to not much at all. The rest is padding, largely consisting of music that Jarmusch evidently likes.

I'm tired of hearing how everything he does is 'brilliant' because it's him. There's nothing about this that's interesting or exceptional, except that he's able to assemble a prestigious cast for such empty nonsense. Given the same cast, any B-movie director could make a product at least as interesting.

It's one big long name drop. Tedious.
