i have'nt seen the movie yet , but i am a huge fan of the book and 'm really pissed at people's comments here .All i'd like to say is lighten up people yes there are poltical insinuations , but they are satirical and whimsical .
the movie audience are a much dumber group than readers i guess
I loved the book but the movie is a real disappointment. Lots of talented people involved but it didn't come together.

The comments are a bit annoying but I think it is born from wanting someone to come out and romance a lady (or a man) or a giant robot fighting monsters or even somebody with guns giving one liners before he blows apart a whole bunch of men (or women).
I feel, people get lost in the metaphors. If you understand the metaphors, it's one of the best films out there. If you don't get the metaphors then it will confuse people and I feel that is where people get lost. They don't understand it is based on real events and they are conveyed symbolically by the actors and even the places and situations.
Buckingham Villa for instance... that's a good one.
