How Did They Know About The Midnight's Children?

I mean why did Indira Gandhi sent out the command to capture them. Am I missing something?

They were real & charismatic. What is that part trying to convey?

Midnight's children didn't exist they were fantasy, it was magical realism. What that section attempted to convey was what happened during The Emergency. The book deals with it much better.

Haven't read the book. But why did they capture the real guy over MC? I still can't connect the dots.

The book explains everything in detail as well as telling the stories of many of the other characters, so reading the book is the best bet.

I'll seriously consider that!

In the book, there is a nice and detailed story about it. It is the doing of Major Shiva who is shown as completely loyal to Indira Gandhi and against Morarji Desai who had tried to curb his menace earlier..
I would suggest you read the book..The book is a masterpiece

Sure, I would do that.

For your benefit, I will also explain why Indira was interested in the Midnight's Children.
Rushdie has drawn a metaphor between the children with their powers and the untapped potential of a free India. Much of the potential goes missing and when Saleem has just started planning to improve his nation, it is then when hope runs out. Indira declares Emergency and evacuation of slums but her main purpose, in Rushdie's opinion, is to thwart the powers of the children along with the rest of India as well. And in this regard, Major Shiva, Saleem's main rival, helps her out.
Also, as Saleem mentions in the book, Indira is trying to be God of India but she cannot let other potential gods live as well.
Fantastic concept. And a fantastic book.

THAT, my friend, is pretty deep, isn't it?

I am glad you explained the metaphor. This makes me more and more inclined to read the book. Just, I'm reading Catch-22 right now. So, would definitely be my next.

Also, I am so surprised by the deepness, now wonder why Rushdie's such a dynamic writer.

Did you ever read the book in the three years since you posted?..I think it's a much better read than Catch22.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.
