Incredibly Disappointing

While Glass Chin sets up an interesting configuration of characters who could go any which way, everything goes exactly as you’d imagine. Stupidity is the engine that keeps Glass Chin moving along and it gets frustrating and downright unbearable by the film’s half-way point. Why should we invest anything into a character who willfully puts his head into the oven time and time again? All the more insufferable is the film’s own air of self-importance and the permeating notion that it thinks it’s making some grand statement about “surviving” and the American dream, or whatever – who cares? This is a dumb, dumb movie that is oblivious to its own shortcomings, so much so that it thinks you’ll just forget about the plotlines it leaves hanging in favor of more “juicy” dialogue from Stoll and Crudup. It’s also blatantly apparent that much of Glass Chin is sitting in the trashbin on someone’s Macbook, not that more of this film would save it.
