I was really looking forward to this, unfortunately it has ended up in my top 10 worst films. The acting was poor, the characters were boring, I never felt anything for any of them, other than slight irritation. The premise of the story is solid, however it was poorly executed. Not at one point did I feel any suspense, excitiment or wonder.
I went with 4 friends, we all walked away saying how terrible it is. A waste of 2 hours in my opinion.
That's a shame for you guys. I just watched it and I thought it was great :)
But whilst it's probably not in my top 10 films, it's easily in my top 10%(and I watch a hell of a lot of films!), and I'd have to say either you haven't watched many films or you only cherry pick the very best of the best to say this was in the worst 10 films you've seen. I appreciate everyone's entitled to their own opinions but surely you must be exaggerating how bad you think it is which is unfairly going to put people off watching this very decent film.
I found nothing wrong with the acting at all. The surf scenes were really good without being too surfy to alienate non surfers(I'm a sufer btw), the only part I wasn't too keen on was the druggy stuff but that's probably the bit that non surfers would see as exciting maybe. I think they could have left the druggy bit out and focused more on the everyday difficulties people face starting up a new business and how they overcame these problems. But whatever I'm not a film maker and I really enjoyed this as it was anyway.
And no I'm not a shill or connected to this film in any way - I actually downloaded the 1080p bluray torrent of it, not great for the makers but I won't get to see it in the uk otherwise.
Maybe I am being harsh. It felt to me like a long version (albeit more grown up) of Home & Away. It really was poor, in my personal opinion. The story was really interesting, but it wasn't told with any great gusto. I also watch lots of films - I'm no expert, but I love movies, so it's not like I hand pick the best ones. I'll give most a try.
I'm also a surfer and live in Australia, I thought the surf scenes were good, but not amazing. Tonnes of better surf films on Fuel TV!
I've found IMDB to be pretty reliable when it comes to ratings and this has a score 5.4 - which says it all.
Dude, your wrong, this was a good film and not at all forgettable .. And I am not a surfer or a surfboard. Peace to you both ;) and another thing, Sam is a good actor an fast becoming a very good actor.
shareNot really a surfer but do a few weeks a year and this was a good film and made me want to head out and do a week surfing soon. No way this can be in anyone's worst 10 films unless they hardly watch nay films and then only watch the best films about....

shareI think you are pretty much correct in your assessment. The story never really got going. The drugs angle was quite irritating and a lot of the time it felt like the story was jumping around too much. The writers didn't manage to link it together very well. Stuff happened than all of a sudden it was the end and I didn't really care about any of them.
