Why Serbs don't Accept the Truth

I have asked myself many times why so many Serbs have organized themselves to write negative reviews for Angelina's debut movie. While I understand that truth hurts sometimes, Serbs will eventually have to face the fact that Serb army led by war criminals (Mladic, Milosevic, Karadzic) have committed cruel attrocities and Genocide against non-Serbs in Bosnia.

I have talked to Serbs from the region and found out that the Serb media has never mentioned massacres (Srebrenica) or concentration camps (Makarska, Keraterm) in Bosnia. So the Serbs should ask themselves if they should trust the media which has ignored the facts all these years and start to look for other sources of information. Most Serbs don't even know that their country has been expelled from the United Nations as a country because of genocide and crimes against humanity.

PS: I have even read one comment "In war, everything is allowed"(!?) - well, the point of this movie is that Not everything should be allowed in war.

angelina's try to commercialize the painful and sad moment in balkan history, and to prove herself that she's other than a bored housewife with a lot of money and powerful friends is just irresponsible. Imagine she's done schindlers list. Anyway my point is, although i didnt watch the film, i expect it'll be a hollywood melodramatic chickflick. Middle age crisis is a bitch.

About accepting the truth, well, the fact is the people are very lacking in knowledge about the events, including you horvat, my friend. To paraphrase, everyone did their share of war crimes there, according to the size of the army they held. Serbia happened to be in possession of the whole yougoslav army... so there you go.

Movies like this one makes you want to distingly separate good and evil, but the reality is kinda different. I salut mrs Angelina's charity work or whatever shes doing, but this time, she messed up... big time.

I think it's ironic that the guy who did Schindler's List also did The Color Purple, Amistad, and a movie about a guy who finds the cup that caught the blood of Jesus Christ.

I also think it's ironic to say this particular film was commercialized even though it was not filmed in English like, say, Valkyrie was. Valkyrie also wasn't written or directed by Germans.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

reply

Haha,....I have to laugh at this. I'm not even a fan of Angelina, but you call her a bored house wife? That's a pretty interesting thing to say about an accomplished actress who's made her own way in the film business. Also, why the *beep* would you comment on a film you haven't seen? Do you realize how pathetic and ridiculous that looks?

Yeah,. Well,..you know that's just like,..uh.. your opinion man.

So you have zero critique of the film, but instead go straight to a personal attack on Jolie with imaginary accusations. From "bored housewife" to "I salute mrs Angelina's charity" and then back to "messed up... big time". Confuse and contradict yourself enough?

I remember that Croats first started to kill Serbs in Croatia and forced 100.000 people to leave their homes. And you talk about 5000 people in Srebrenica? What about 1.000.000 Serbs killed by Croats in Jasenovac during WW2?

reply

So instead of learning from mistakes of people you pay them back thats cool

reply

well i guess when someone kill someone close to you, you start to hate them... I wonder what would you do in this situation... Its *beep* war, people die and only thing that is born in it is hate, that grows bigger and bigger

Dear rakeem86, if you are confused in real life as you sound here, how the hack you manage your every day life. Your alleged figures and "facts", where it came from? Dude, lack o knowledge cannot be excuse for spiting nonsense like that.

reply

No, that is not crazy at all. Serbs had a very good reason for that and that reason was a large number of Serbian people living in those republics. If you heard of Jasenovac (death camp which was established while Croatia was independent) you would know why lot of Serbs that were living in Croatia at the time when it was fighting for it's independence from Yugoslavia was in fear of what will happen to them if Croatia become independent again.

reply

*beep* of the unknown, ustase were long gone along with Pavelic Serbians were living in the past.

reply

Yeah, and a whole lot of Serbians committed atrocities against Croats, Austrians, etc. before they made it to the British army to surrender (with British complacency); what's your point, if someone from an ethnic group has wronged you that gives you carte blanche to be a barbarian to anyone of their race forever after and the same for any of your descendants?? That is insane thinking my friend.

Slovenia didn't want to have anything to do with Serbia,
Croatia either, Macedonia either, Montenegro and Kosovo either, half of Bosnia either.
Makes me wonder why all those countries didn't like Serbia.

reply

They didn't want to be part of Yugoslavia... But i gues its our fault cuz we created country second time (Kingdom of Serbs,Croats and Slovenians 1918 and Yugoslavia 1945) with people that are always so eager to kill us every time when they have a chance.

reply

Previously I estimated you must be confused, I missed, You are just helplessly and irreparably dumb

reply

Yugoslavia was created by Soviets and made communist by them. You were a part of Soviet's "Communist Shield" - a shield of communist countries surrounding Soviet Union.
Russians kept that country together, keeping Serbians, their Slavic brothers, as a leading nation in that country. Which is why everyone else wanted to get out. The same reason all those 14 other Soviet republics fled USSR first chance they had. There was blood there, as Russians did not want to lose lands... There was blood here for that same reason.

reply

Your explanation is on level of a 5 year child. Yugoslavia was never part of Soviet shield, it was the only communist country in Europe which was not under eastern military block lead by Soviets, and ruled by its own communist model which was very liberal, and much much different than rigid one in Russia.
And Russians didn`t keep that country together, they didn`t impose Yugoslavia to its nations. Tito as leader of communist Yugoslavia was Croat, and most of south Slavic people wanted to live together in one country.

Serbs were not privileged in Yugoslavia, since they were only one who were divided into 4 different republics, and weakened with 2 autonomous province within Serb republic (Kosovo and Vojvodina)...but they were not so much dissatisfied because in same time they all lived together within one country - Yugoslavia. Therefore Serbs were most interested in keeping Yugoslavia alive when war started, and against to be divided in 4 different countries.

And in accordance with all constitution acts (through the time) in Yugoslavia, its borders could be changed only if ALL republics were agreed with that. By same constitution, self-determination were allowed only to nations, and not republics. Braking of constitution (mostly encouraged by united Germany and USA, not Russia) as the most important legal act of any country, lead to war. You must to learn some basic facts before you post some comment with serious topic.

reply

...and one of your countryman is responsible for triggering the First World War, so does that means it open-season on Serbs forever after? See how irrational believing in collective guilt is?

reply

The man who gave an excuse for Austira Hungary to do what they'd been planning for long time (to be exact) was in his own words ''A Yugoslavian''. His organization was
made up from Serbs, Bosnian Muslims and even Croats. Not many of them thought of themselves as such though.

The assasination of imperialistic archduke was welcomed and the perpetrators hailed from Italy to Great Britain. So, I don't think that your metaphor is quite on spot.

It implies some Serb guilt over WWI, when the truth is quite opposite.

I do agree believing in collective guilt is very irrational.

reply

*beep* Serbs are well aware of crimes committed in Bosnia by forces connected to Serb army, most of the cases they were dogs of war and criminal maniacs, but we are rejecting and will always will that the Serbs are the only war criminals in Bosnian conflict. It's unpopular today to speak about crimes between Croats and Bosniaks, or Sarajevo Bosniaks against Bihac Bosniaks, but they happened.
Nobody ever speaks about crimes against Serbs in Muslim and Croatian controlled parts of Bosnia, like Sarajevo, or Srebrenica during 1992. and 1993. Thousands of Serbs were slaughtered in villages around Srerenica on Christmas morning of 1993.
Serbs had prison camps, but trust me so had the others.
Nobody ever speaks about incident when Muslims were slaughtering the Christian population of mountain Vlasic, and how Serb army saved the Croats, put them in town of Srbobran, now Donji Vakuf, transporting them to Croatia.
Once, Sarajevo had same percent of serbs, muslims and croats, now there are 95 percent of muslims.
Point is that all sides are guilty, everybody were bloodthirsty and i hope it will NEVER happen again.
It hurts to accept Hollywood custom to had usual bad guys and good guys, because it creates malicious stereotypes that affect all the Serbian people.

Stopped reading right there.

Of course you did. Facts don't go well with your Islamic mythology.

Did you know more Serb civilians died in Sarajevo than Muslim (counting few thousand fighters you all mention as civilians) in Srebrenica.

reply

Is that the Serbian word for propaganda. If it is then you're right.

Did you know more Serb civilians died in Sarajevo than Muslim

You have only yourselves to blame for killing your own people, considering you surrounded the city, cut off electricity and water, and BOMBED IT FOR FOUR YEARS.

reply

You have to give an argument or actual fact if you want to have a debate...This is just a waste of time.

Actually, it was surrounded a bit over 3 years...

And no, I am not talking about bombing casualties. We both know how many Muslim fighters were in Sarajevo at the time (ENOUGH TO MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR SERBIAN ARMY TO ATTACK AND CONQUER THE CITY FOR OVER 3 YEARS)...And what do you think they did in Sarajevo for all that time, how many non Muslims they have killed during the war...in Sarajevo. Number of Serbs goes from 7 to 10.000 depending on the source. It tops even the now proven hoax about 8.000 Muslims in Srebrenica.

Don't forget that Muslim army also bombed Sarajevo, and sniped the citizens...Don't play dumb.

And as for Serbs, as I said, more Serbs were killed in Sarajevo - BY MUSLIMS, than Muslims in Srebrenica- INCLUDING MUSLIM FIGHERS. That was the point, not the military or humanitarian pov on siege of Sarajevo.

Perhaps they don't know it because it isn't true. Serbia has been a member in good standing of the United Nations since 1 November 2000. Serbia was never expelled from the United Nations.

Once again the message board for In The Land Of Blood And Honey presents as fact a complete piece of fiction that just happens to put Serbs in a bad light. This message board has, unfortunately, confirmed Lenin's old axiom that a lie told often enough becomes the truth.

Well, you need to check the historical record for events that took place before 2000. You can't just pick and choose from history as you wish. Here is an excerpt from the UN protocol at that time:

"Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina were recognized as independent states in 1992. The remaining republics of Serbia and Montenegro declared a new "Federal Republic of Yugoslavia" (FRY) in April 1992 and, under President Slobodan MILOSEVIC, Serbia led various military intervention efforts to unite ethnic Serbs in neighboring republics into a "Greater Serbia." These actions led to Yugoslavia being ousted from the UN in 1992..."

reply

from where did you got that quote? ''Greater Serbia'' was a myth only pushed by one opposition party in Serbia.

Necko, it seems that you are the one who is picking and choosing his history (and not providing links in the process). In 1992, the only two former republics of Yugoslavia that choose to remain in Yugoslavia were Serbia and Montenegro. They formed a revised Yugoslav nation and claimed inheritance of certain national privileges of the former (pre-split) Yugoslavia, including the old Yugoslavia's seat in the United Nations. The United Nations disagreed with this claim and denied the new "Federal Republic Of Yugoslavia" to simply inherit old Yugoslavia's UN seat, and advised the new Yugoslavia to apply for new membership. The new Yugoslavia, for various political reasons, declined to apply for new UN membership until the year 2000. Its application was accepted and the "new" Federal Republic Of Yugoslavia was granted membership in November 2000. It's quite a stretch to claim that this somehow equates to SERBIA being "ousted" from the UN.

"The story is fictional".

Serbs are not the ones who have to accept the truth, but all the West and their allies in that war.

reply

Someone Who is not Serbian can not know better real facts than Serbian... Stop being stupid...

reply

Bosnians know better, as we were there. "Real facts" were't on Serbian TV, or CNN...

Real facts are all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

reply

I'm American and I know that many Europeans and others know our history better than we do. Much of our history that is taught in grade school is self serving.
There are historians though that do not gloss over the facts. So no, I do not buy your argument that you have to be Serbian to know your true history. You stop being stupid.

reply

You should ask yourself many things, but if you think that this dilettante movie is something that brings out the truth, raises awareness or actually deals with war topics, then you are even more mistaken that Serbs that are blinded by the hate!
You simply cannot approach a topic such as war with so little knowledge as mrs Jolie did, it is highly irresponsible, rude and downright stupid.
I, as a civilized person, absolutely agree that the subject and the awareness of the war that happened recently in the Balkans is not as it should be. Serbs have many issues that urgently needs to be dealt responsibly! The heat is still on in people's hearts and minds, and as long as we have idiotic wannabe movies like this - the goal of understanding and accepting the truth and the guilt will never happen!!
So i have to ask what is YOUR goal here? To provoke, to judge or to claim that Serbs are still genocide oriented?
Let's put an end to this mockery of civilized society that produces godawful movies like this one, followed by pro-fascist comments that places blame without any actual prior knowledge.
