Seriously? Miles Teller's gorgeous! He looks like a young John Cusack.

Also, you could be ugly as sin, but if you have a good personality/sense of humour, people will just throw themselves at you.

Perhaps your high school was different, or maybe you've just forgotten, but a huge amount of popular guys in high school weren't actually that good looking. At my school, a couple of the popular guys were real lookers, but for the most part, they were funny and outgoing and always a blast to be around. But, like Sutter, they were also the type of people who were likely to see high school as their glory days. They didn't always have a lot going for them in the real world besides being charming--they weren't always terribly bright, and tended to be lazy. I really saw the guys from my high school in Sutter. The only difference is that the popular guys in my school were insincere and douchey once you spent enough time around them, while Sutter had a "heart of gold".

One word: charisma.

Not exactly. Remember when he was flirting with those girls at the bar, and they ended up blowing him off? He was supposed to be kind of a rakishly charming guy, but not a total stud.
