Does the "drama factor" justify the fake weigh-in on the loading dock?

The steel plate they are standing on is a ramp that lifts up and folds out to bridge the gap between the dock and a truck, so it can be loaded or unloaded.

Apparently they run a wire to it from a digital sign and pretend it's a scale.

Seriously, how demeaning is this charade to the overweight person?
