.........reference made me laugh! Did anyone notice that the kid that Casey Affleck was talking to had "13" tattooed on his neck? "13" was Sabbath's most recent album. BOOM trivia!

Correct, but Dio brought it to Black Sabbath when he replaced Ozzy. Not sure if he did the sign prior...?

Ronnie joked about it once in a documentary called "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" by Sam Dunn, that Gene Simmons of Kiss always maintained that HE came up with it. Ronnie said something like "Well if Gene Simmons said it, it must be true. Because he invented everything." Or something to that effect.

The sign is a very old satanic symbol. It was done with the left hand, and giving the sign to others showed that u were a satanist as well. It was a sign for "brothers of the left path". The Black Sabbath thing is a popular misnomer, since they popularized it.

MS13 aka Mara Salvatrucha is the latino gang that was featured in the film many times. They have become one of the most notorious and feared gangs in America and several other countries, mainly due to their penchant for extreme violence and brutality that is more comparable to Mexican drug cartels than regular American street gangs.

One of their distinguishing features are the heavy full body tattoos. There's some really fascinating documentaries about them that have been made, you should check them out.

The horn sign was invented by Dio before he joined Sabbath, I believe. He was still in Rainbow. I may be wrong though

There is a Danzig Song called Thirteen written for Johnny Cash with the lyrics
