Who were the demons?

As I understand it the supernatural beings were trying to do good to humanity as they actually wanted to kill the bad man. The man who is obviously some kind of antichrist or something. So they were not demons but angels. But then why the hell were they so damn ugly?

They were Watchers. I assume they look like that to scare people.

In the links he went to there was a page that told about the Watchers. I don't think they are angels.

Watchers who were actually Angels, trying to stop what happens in the end.

Yep they were the good guys, angels trying to rid kill Samuel to prevent the new religion
