NOT THE FINAL MOVIE YOU ARE WATCHING

Per the director in an interview, paraphrasing this. Saw him in Orlando at some event with one of his other films and person asked him about the leak.

"what was released online is an older cut. In America, after we were purchased by Big Air. We went back in and were able to correct a lot of things that the budget didn't allow us to originally. The mix, the VFX, the sound, the overall edit"

Interviewer: So there are two versions of the film?

D: "We were a small budget, and our post was condensed. The movie that was leaked was the first cut that was screened. After it was bought, about 2 more months of editing and post went in to it"

Interviewer: When are you finishing the Big Air cut?

D: "Today"

Interviewer: Have you seen the leaked cut?

D: "No, I know what it is, and it sucks a lot of people will be watching a movie that is not really the movie. But it happens I guess"

reply

where is this interview from? source?

reply

saw him talk in Orlando on Saturday, paraphrasing the back and forth - but you get the gist.

reply

But were they able to fix the insanely bad acting and the preposterously silly plot?

I guess I'll never know, because no way I'm sitting through this crap again.

reply

He didn't answer that question ;-)

reply

Ya, I'm a fan of the director - been following his facebook, he just finished this movie like yesterday, whatever is out there is not the final movie.

reply

Well, maybe they will change some effects or sounds, but still more money will not change the story, so this version is enough for me- btw it doesn´t look very unfinished to me
as to the film it was pretty average

reply

Dude, that's nonsense.

During Halloween, the movie was shown in theatres in The Netherlands as part of a special Halloween movie marathon on the 29th of October. Do you really think they would releasea non finished film?

The DVDScreener rip is incomplete. However, the movie is out on DVD in The Netherlands on the 9th. The DVDrip out there is from that source and is the complete finished movie.

reply

damn right they would; they did it with Mutant Chronicles! Hell, on DVD it's still unfinished, but hey, it was still a fun, enjoyable movie

reply

I have just finished watching this 'leaked cut' and the only way the director could correct this pile of sh#t would be to have not actually made it.
The idea that anything could be done to make this tripe any better is dafter than the movie itself.
It is a mess from start to finish and the ending was obvious after half an hour. If two centuries editing and post went in to it then it would still be garbage.

reply

Obviously you dont work in the movie business. A cut can change night and day in a matter of weeks.

reply

Have you seen the cut?

I didn't like anyone's acting in this movie, not one person... Which leads me to believe that it's really a case of bad dialogue throughout the entire movie, and bad direction. No one seemed to have any chemistry.

Many times, things are too far gone to fix no matter how much time you have. What's the phrase... You can polish a turd but it's still a turd?

I just finished watching The Omen remake, which was an average movie, and that is fantastic compared to this.

One good thing about the movie.. I did like the last 15 minutes or so. I think that's probably because people mostly stopped talking so there was no more terrible dialogue.

reply

polish a turd indeed. the only way to fix this film would be to record a new one. editing won't cut it.

...see what i did there...

reply

Im at 33 minutes dont know if i can go on any longer. its not deplorable im just curious whats going to happen. but be honest everyone bootlegging this movie and not paying for it... then complaining about it after you stole a movie lol u make me laugh.

reply

with the technology of theses days, they can change anything even 1 week before it comes out if they want ! I do believe the author !

slayerjmk95 is right about Mutant Chronicles, it's a good example, X-Men Origins: Wolverine also ! it had a soso workprint and the final product was awesome, and they are doing a sequel !

Last Movies: - Johnny English 2: 3,5/5
- 3 Musketeers 3D: 4/5
- Paranormal Activity 3: 3/5

reply

but the 'rip' online is just a rip of dvdrental from another country, i believe this was released for rent on DVD outside the US a few places,
why on earth would the director let the 'unfinished cut' of his movie be officially release for people to rent, even if its not in the US. sorry but it just doesnt make sense.

reply

If anybody wants to see the final version it's out on Netflix - I listened to the commentary and the director explained exactly what happened and how. The director doesn't always have the last say, the distributors and producers have input too. That's pretty common knowledge, there have been lots of big budget pictures where the studio and director disagree publicly on the theatrical release. In this case, the director screened the unfinished film for his European investors and apparently the European distribution company decided to release that instead of waiting. The American release is the one the director finished and approved.

Anyways, I liked it. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I'm sort of shocked at all the 1 star reviews and hatred - that must have been a pretty terrible cut of the film that you guys saw. If you bootleg stuff, you (not you, specifically, but people in general) get what you pay for.

They're coming to get you, Barbara!

It was an enjoyable movie! Far from great, but what can you do on a kind of crappy script that actually had a good plot, bad to decent acting, good practical effects and good directing? For something that was just shy of being $1 million, it was good
