Man this game is painfully overrated lol

i can't believe how many people are calling this game a masterpiece and giving it ratings like 10/10 lol.

I mean, comparing the quality of this game to a game like The Last of Us (a true masterpiece) is laughable. It is very easy to miss the story if you are like me and dont want to sit around and listen to the audiofiles ("voxophones") that you had to search through mind-numbingly boring levels.

At least the earlier bioshock games gave you reasons to bother using the "Vigors" (as they call them in this game). This game i found that i barely ever used the vigors at all. And this is playing hard difficulty. The last boss was just a chaotic mess that is in no way exciting and only comes across as frustrating. Not having the atom points (used only to upgrade spells) made it annoying to choose between upgrading spells or guns instead of deciding what was worth upgrading.

This game feels like it panders to people who have never watched any sci-fi shows like star trek or doctor who and would never have been exposed to even the most basic of stories. The same goes for the gameplay itself, it felt like it was lacking any unique or memorable element that i would miss in another game (the gravity gun in half-life 2 for example)

I actually felt like it was a chore for me to finish this game lol. I quit about 60% the way through and came back when i had no other games left to beat in my library lol.

i give this a GENEROUS 7/10. I believe those that would rate it higher are casual gamers that dont know what a game can offer you, in terms of story and gameplay. The graphics were definitely nothing to scoff at though, it was pretty beautiful.

It only means that you have a short attention span and the constant need to feel better about yourself by belittling other people's opinion. This game was absolutely great and the story was pretty good.

Kind of like how you're belittling his opinion? Take your own advice before you dish it out, Hoss.

1959 telegraphed and wants its completely dope reference back, yo.

Let's see who takes the bait.

reply

The 90s called on their brick Nokia and they want their outdated "cool guy" word back, "yo."

I couldn't get past the first half of the game (the last of us) sure the story and graphics are good but my god is the gameplay horrible. Bad a.i. The same exact kill animations over and over, ugly and clunky cover shooting it was just ehhhh

At least bioshock infinite had more intense combat with some pretty cool enemies to fight an some cool gadgets. Is the gameplay perfect? No. Is the atmosphere and overall story better than TLOU? I'mo yes

Playing this game(and all the bioshocks) is the most fun and awe ive had playing video games. With the batman games coming in second.

I'm with you on that but I would add GTA3 And newer too that list. Bioshock was amazing and the atmosphere it created and feal still too this day has never been matched not even by its sequels. I liked the sequels a lot and I agree with game informer on its high scores that it got in its review. The game the OP says grabs his attention lost mine in less then 24 hours and I sent it back too gamefly for the next on my playlist luckily I have 2 games checked out with gamefly so I had my backup ready and waiting.

Agreed 100%, I give it 6/10 that's what it truly deserves.

reply

It's definetily better than most fps i've played in the years.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with you, this game was pretty bad. Which is a shame because I loved the first two games, but this one just felt low-effort and rushed. I wasn't enthralled by the story, the constant firefights got boring, and the game from a technical standpoint felt like a step backwards compared to both BioShock 1 and 2. Here are my brief thoughts on the trilogy:

BioShock- A true masterpiece of gameplay and story. This wasn't just a game, it was an event.

BioShock 2- Not quite as amazing as the first game, but still wonderful in its own right. It was still fun and has a good story.

BioShock Infinite- A disappointment to say the least. This game offered nothing that made the first two so great. A bargain bin-quality title in an otherwise legendary series.

I'm sorry but anyone who puts bishock 2 over infinite is just wrong

This game is factually better than that one. No ones saying you can't think the second is better, but from a pure story standpoint and character standpoint infinite just factually has a better story and characters

reply

Wrong.

"You're not a standup guy today, Pat!"
