How many languages are spoken?

I'm watching Dag on Sky Arts so have the English subtitles. Am puzzled as to how many different languages are spoken, given it's a Norwegian series. Rolf Laarsgard is Swedish, as is Tuva Novotny, is it obvious to Norwegian viewers that they are not Norwegian speakers born and bred? Also, "Juanita", why does she refer to not having spoken Danish for some time, when she meets her child in her apartment for the first time? And why does she continue speaking in English? Highly puzzled!

Tuva speaks Norwegian with a very slight accent, while Rolf just speaks Swedish throughout the show (as do several minor characters). Norwegians generally understand Swedish without much difficulty.

As for Juanita, I believe the story is that she spoke Danish in her childhood but gave it up in favour of English as she moved abroad and became a citizen of the world, or something like that.

Thanks for that. I love it, whatever language is spoken but it gets confusing. Is it actually funny in Norwegian? Cant imagine it is.

Same as with the Bridge - could never tell which language was being used as I read the subtitles.

I imagine the many different Norwegian dialects makes it even harder to determine the language. People from different corners of Norway can sound as different from each other as they do from a Swede.

Is it actually funny in Norwegian? Cant imagine it is.

Not sure I get your meaning here? What's not funny in Norwegian?

I mean it is so dark - beyond black comedy. Is it meant to be a comedy? I just don't see it, but I am hooked. Season just ended on Sky Arts - not sure when next one is out. Any suggestions? Can download on NetFlix so any other of similar genre.
