Was Olivia acting rather bad towards her mother?

I wonder if Olivia treated her mother rather badly at times since I know that Vi Rose was a bit controlling and overbearing at times but she had a good heart and was trying to support the kids while her husband was in Army to support the family.

I agree with you. I personally found she deserved that slap after the whole "You hate me because I'm pretty" bit.

The mom was totally in the right here. She was working at all she could do to keep a life style for the kids and the daughter was all "it's about me." She was sad throughout the whole movie and the ending make up scene didn't do the the last fight mom and daughter had justice.

I don't think Olivia was that bad. Believe me, there are teenagers (and grown adults too!) that behave far worse than she did. Vi Rose's behavior at the elevator was borderline abuse. I'm all for teens having boundaries, but they also need more freedom than having to ask permission to cross the street, and I think Vi Rose realized that after the confrontation. She should have apologized for hitting, though. That's unacceptable no matter how fresh Olivia was being.

I think I'm in agreement with you there. Besides the execution being harsh, it was also rather condescending due to the parts with hanging mirrors around the hearts and giving yourself CPR which is actually impossible to achieve. Besides, I think you should check out this video that I made myself:
