About The Song

I absolutely love the song that Caroline and Neil we're dancing too but I cant figure out who sang it. I know the title is Dream a Little Dream of Me, but in the beginning of the movie I think the entire song was sung by a female and then at the end of the movie I thought it was sung by both a male and a female!

I loved both versions and want to get them but I can't figure out who was singing it! Anyone can offer some insight? Even just versions you've heard and liked.

Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald were the duo at the end and during the water fight.
The version by the Mills Brothers was playing on the radio when they were sitting on the porch.
Cass Elliot (Mamas and Papas) also did a version, as did about 15-20 others.

There were 3 different versions used in the movie. One was the Armstrong version the other responder mentioned and the version with the woman only was sung by Doris Day. It's weird, because in all of the news articles and interviews that I read, it says the closing song was Doris Day's version....but I too recall a man and woman singing the end song.

If you Google it you'll come up with an article by Aaron Barnhart for The Kansas City Star that tells the secret of how the director "tricked" Betty White to give that great performance in the end. Very touching movie and very touching story about shooting Whites final scene. There's several articles out there about it so it should be easy to find. (just Google 'dream a little dream of me the lost valentine')

First time (on radio) was the Mills Brothers, second time (montage, water fight, etc.) was a duet with Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, and the closing was Doris Day.
