He gets rescued but they think that he killed them all because of his previous psychotic episodes. It was leading up to this the WHOLE movie.

Trying to blow yourself out of an airdock in a dreamlike state does seem to be kind of psychotic.

A better ending would've be for him to make it back to earth and start a new zombie series. Only because we lack expose to zombie-type movies, shows, and series these days. Nothing like a mars-like strain of zombie to up the hollywood ante a bit!
