As good (or bad) as The Martian

The Martian is not as good as I thought but at least it made me ignite my appeal for space movies. I had this on my Netflix list for months and now I finally watched it. It´s a good genre flick. I´m impressed this had a budget of 10 million USD because it really looks as expensive as "The Martian" and had lots of similarities in the plot and even some almost exact scenes. Both suffer from slow pacing and run longer that they should but it deserves at least a 6.

Thanks for your review, Caprizonica8. I agree with you about The Martian (didn't hate it, but thought it was definitely marketing over substance), so I appreciate hearing your comments on this one.

I thought the best thing about The Martian was that it wasn't afraid to ask its audience to think. From the trailer, this one seems to be more in the monsters-in-space category than intelligent sci-fi, but heck, I like popcorn too. 

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

This is much better than Martian. Martian was an adventure comic with teenage cuteness. This is more mature.

Yes, it's at least as bad as the Martian!

Beyond being set on Mars there really is little comparison, they're two completely different genres to compare. It's like comparing Titanic to Castaway because they both involve the sea.
