Oh, look! There's a body being dragged down the hallway!

Have you been to conventions? They can be pretty crazy at times. I went to some in St. Louis, and the "wall-crawling" brings out a lot of strangeness. By the Dead Dog Party, a con-goer will have seen some pretty bizarre occurrences.

Considering that many people are in costume and amateur makeup artists are having a great time, you see sights like that and far more. At one, a 10-foot-tall, glowing-eyed demon (on hydraulics) decided to pay a visit to the unsuspecting patrons of the hotel lounge. We peeked in, and some of the responses were hilarious. Several people exited at high speed but calmed down when others in costume plus some mundane-dresssed people explained that there was a science fiction/genre convention taking place. When the demon returned, they had fun asking him questions and watching as he operated the hydraulics to descend to their level.

Depending on the convention, some strange things do happen that you just shrug off and keep going wherever you were headed.

I started going in the late Seventies but haven't been able to get to one for several years.
