Capitalist system is not at fault

Ironically the film faults capitalism as the corrupter when it is in fact corporatism (fascism) but the solution offered is at the heart of capitalism --- your money your purchasing power dictates what is on offer -- when purchasing mindlessly then you are feeding this detestable system....I wish the terms were not so often confused....

The other part is not just actively take part in what you purchase but be active in your government, more than voting -- asking questions... how is this to the benefit of the country -- why are these systems in place -- what is the purpose of these laws/regulations -- who is in control? a government of the people or of the corporate entities? where is my efforts, time and money gone to? things I care about or not? Am I being lied to? are the words matching the reality -- if not why not? and what should I do about it?

Sorry if I have gone on too long.... I just wish all of us the best in life but the best I believe can never come if we don't ask ourselves the question of what is right and wrong in our lives and how can we fix it -- not look to some hero but to ourselves

Agreed. I don't really want to watch these kind of documentaries because I know a truly insightful film wouldn't exist or be shown.

This is Mike. He saves ghettos.

So, are you saying a filmmaker would never be able to produce an insightful film?

It is both capitalism as well as the inevitable result of faith and reliance on capitalism (corporatism) that are at fault. The elevation of private capital and private property to a position of preeminence in society, as has occurred in the U.S., leads inextricably to institutions that are, at their core, corporatist and fascist. I know of no historical examples of an economic system built upon pure, or nearly pure, capitalism NOT ultimately leading to corporatism. There are no successful economies founded on unrestrained capitalism and there never have been. History demonstrates that they will ALL eventually lead to fascism.

Don't confuse capitalism with mercantilism. Do you own a business? You are probably NOT a capitalist and you could just as well own that business outside of a strictly capitalist economic system. (Socialist Finland has more entrepreneurs, per capita, than the U.S.) Too many people consider themselves capitalists when they really just believe in mercantilism. If you do any work, of any description, for a living, you are NOT a capitalist. If you derive all your income from sitting on your ass waiting for your dividends to be posted, you might be a capitalist.

Look around today. Look around throughout modern history. No economy that has relied on free market capitalism has been successful, even the U.S. whose success in the past was directly related to the proportion of socialism allowed into the economy, and whose failures are a direct result of laissez faire policies and unrestrained capitalism that naturally evolved into corporatism.

The only humane and sustainable economic systems are mixed economies as seen in Scandinavia, for example. The problem is that the big corporate states, like the U.S., cannot allow mixed economies to succeed. They will be fought tooth-and-nail by disaster capitalists and international bullies who apply relentless political and economic pressure to privatize everything and all but eliminate the concept of the "commons". The most obvious and glaring resent example of what happens to a country who thinks they can tame the long hand of capitalism is the destruction of Yugoslavia. The breakup of Yugoslavia, while portrayed as a result of ethnic strife, was in actuality orchestrated by the IMF and the World Bank for the benefit of the financiers and capitalists who snapped up Yugoslavia's public industries and natural resources at fire-sale prices. Yugoslavia was an example of a economically successful, socialistic welfare state and those simply cannot be allowed to exist, lest it provide inspiration to those who don't view unrestrained capitalism as an economic panacea.

I really appreciate your insightful distinction -- I never thought of it in this way -- or to be honest I didn't know about the concept of mercantilism -- thank you for your thoughtful answer :)

correct... we are being bought...

True. Capitalism exists virtually everywhere for the very simple reason that capitalism is the gathering of men, land, material, money, and equipment in order to create and operate a venture that produces a product or service that people want and need and for which they are willing to pay money (or whatever is contracted between buyer and seller). From the profits of the venture dividends are paid to the investors, if any of either.

To call this an evil and to be responsible for evil is simply wrong. It is evil men who use evil ventures to evil ends, not hardworking and thinking men, who are responsible for the evils of corporatism. Note that the sales of multi-billion dollar evil corporations are not so much to the public as are to the govt.

There might be exceptions, such as big pharma.

What you call "Fascism" is the logical end result of the capitalist system.

Actual Fascism is a very different system.

The solution to end poverty and excess wealth is very simple really. Completely eradicate the monetary/banking system. Money is not real, it is simply an illusion created by those who seek power and control over the masses. The same people who invented money and the banking systems are the ones who created the classes; low income, middle income, high income, etc... in order to create false categories of people based on what those in power (the ones with the most money) deem their positions in society.
People continue to say "but we can't survive without money", or "we wouldn't have technology without money", and all manner of such excuses. These excuses were scripted by those in power in order to keep the masses in their control via brainwashing. People lived and survived before money existed, and very well I might add. Less pollution, less illness, less hunger, less homelessness, etc....
We CAN survive without money and the banking system. However, the masses need to wake up to the fact of these fallacies created by the power hungry greedy and stand up against them and eradicate their systems of control.
