Carol Burnett

Okay. Carol Burnett was SO OBVIOUSLY ACTING in "Joan Pulls a Beaver." She is wonderful, fabulous, and I love her. BUT...to me, this proves that this show is scripted. There is no way that her scene can be watched and taken as "reality TV." It reminded me of a sitcom scene. That said, I still adore Carol Burnett and Joan Rivers, and it was funny -- just not believable as reality TV.

Well, obviously it was scripted (they have to get permission to use the restaurant, set up the shots, and I doubt they would "ambush" Burnett) but I think Burnett did a good job of acting put-out and annoyed! But when Burnett said "Hawaii!" and stormed off, that did seem a little actressy.

So obvious. When she walked away, it was like watching a sitcom. This is what this show has become. The acting is quite obvious also with the 2 assistants.
And of course, the "story lines" with Joan selling Melissa's furniture in the past and now posting her profile on a dating website... really ? Are we supposed to think Joan is that stupid ?
BTW.... Wiht her acting bit, Carol ended up looking like a bitch. Failed.

reply

Yes, very scripted. And if the were any doubt when Carol stood up and said "Hawaii".

And I agree whitepeak, it made Carol(whom I love and I know someone who worked with her in the 80s and said she is a very nice woman)to be a real bitch.

I wonder if Carol knows it's supposed to be a reality show?

I was wondering the same thing. That episode was taped several months ago. Maybe by now, she has realized that it is not a comedy but made to APPEAR as a reality show. Even Melissa's reactions to some situations sound false. Too bad they drag little Cooper in the farce.

Joan and Melissa are all about making money PERIOD!

They don't give a rat's ass about reality. And from watching I can tell they don't give a rat's ass about anyone else but themselves!

I used to like Joan River (though I never much cared for her untalented and horse faced daughter) . After watching this show I dislike both of them.

And, talk about hypocrites! Melissa is dating a guy who makes his money from porn???
Tell me how this is any better then Jason???

(He's after your mom's money you damn ugly witch)!

I feel bad for Jason, but I bet He's thrilled to be away from this terrible family!

Yes, Carol thought they were doing *beep* not knowing it would be included in a "reality show".

Carol Burnett is the real deal. In the 80s she sued The Enquirer who said she was drunk in a Washington DC restaurant and made an a** out of herself in front of Henry Kissenger.

She sued, went to trial, won a large settlement, and then donated it all to charity.

Class act.

Obviously some of it is scripted. Lol like anything to do with Joan and another celebrity and most of the house drama. It probably actually happened but they're rewriting reality to make it interesting. I don't think they were expecting the Jason thing though. That came out of left field.
